tradeshow_florplant_antalya2012ANTALYA, Turkey: This year’s Florplant show,  the spring ornamental horticulture, landscaping  and gardening event that made its debut in 2011, was cancelled Monday as its organiser cited the failure of the industry’s companies to participate.

Mehmet Dukkanci, director at Agoras Fuarcilik Hizmetleri Ltd. Sti., the company that owns Florplant and other trade shows, said they decided to cancel the event while thanking all industry stakeholders for their support over the last three years.

According to Dukkanci the decision to suspend Florplant has been an extremely difficult one and has been taken with a heavy heart. “Three and a half years ago, we dreamed of organising an international gathering of the ornamental plant industry in Antalya.  There was every reason to strongly believe in this new event as guest town Antalya is to host the 2016 Expo, the Mother of all Horticultural trade shows.” We invested in this industry with our money and, moral and physical effort.”

Dukkanci concluded by wishing its former competitors such as the Flower Show Turkey in Istanbul and the nursery stock exhibition in Odemis all the best.
