PADOVA, Italy, September 14, 2012: Luca Maffucci, owner of Maffucci Flowering Plants in Viareggio, Tuscany has been chosen “Grower of the Year 2012″ by trade show organiser PadovaFiere and the top of Italian trade magazines; Flortecnica, Clamer Informa, Acer, Greenline, Il Sole 24 ore, Garden&Grill and Linea Verde. A company representative received the award at the gala dinner and reception during the 2012 Flormart trade show which will run at the PadovaFiere Convention Centre in Padua, Northern Italy, until September 15.
The coveted Fabio Rizzi Award, in its 32th year, recognises progressive growers nominated by their peers who embrace technology and modern production practices, market innovatively, deliver strong customer service and demonstrate industry leadership. Maffucci has been promoting Italy as a leading producer of ornamentals in general and as a leading supplier of flowering pot plants in particular. The jury praised Maffucci s management skills, which have helped Maffuci Piante da Fiore to make a name for itself as one of the main producer companies of flowering plants at the national level, with 23 hectares of greenhouse production and approximately 100 employees. The production of geranium cuttings represents the company’s core business.
Giovanni D’Angelo was presented with the Gardening Professional of the Year Award. The jury wanted to recognise the work of D’Angelo – agronomist and landscape teacher at Minoprio horticultural institute.
