LOWER WITHINGTON, Cheshire, UK, September 6, 2012: The 42nd Four Oaks horticultural trade exhibition can look on a very successful show that was at the 23 acre Four Oaks nursery and cash and carry store at Lower Withington, Cheshire, from September 4 to 5.
The two-day event covered an area of 17,000m² under glass with additional outdoor areas. The last ten years have brought a steady growth to the nursery sector, specifically specimen plants and mature stock from across Europe. Massive displays of plant material form the heart of the show, with associated supplies and services from production to point-of-sale. Over 30% of participating companies came from overseas. The visitor profile included commercial growers / grower retailers, garden centres, multiple retailers, farm shops, landscapers, garden designers, landscape architects, local authorities and florists.
Kernock Park Plants won the Four Oaks gold medal for its Calibrachoa ‘Lemon Slice’ from the Proven Winners Superbells series. Runners up were Young Plants Ltd for Potunia ‘Plus Watercolour Purple’ and Ball Colegrave for the Digitalis Dalmatian series.
In nursery stock, Javado Uk took the first prize for Fatsia ‘Spider’s Web’, while Fargro with T34 Bioncontrol was crowned the winner in the Professional Product and Service category. T34 Bioncontrol is a new CRD registered biofungicide for Fusarium.
