LISSE, the Netherlands, June 5, 2012: It is with regret that Keukenhof President, Walter Janssen today announced that Piet de Vries, managing director of Keukenhof, is to retire with immediate effect. De Vries’ departure is due to “irreconcilable differences of view over policy’.
Piet has made a big contribution to the rise of Keukenhof visitors in seven years that he has been at the helm of the world’s most famous spring garden. Piet’s guidance has seen the Keukenhof develop a wide range of services for the visitors. As a result of a total sample of 1,000 visitors, Keukenhof scored an overall score of 8.7, where the average Dutch tourist attraction gets normally an 8.0.
Piet has built up a good management team and will be leaving the Keukenhof in capable hands whilst a successor is sought.
