ERMELO, The Netherlands: As of 3 April 2017, André Vreugdenhil will be joining the team at M. Koppe BV as Commercial Manager. He will be responsible for the production and sale of Begonia cuttings and, over time, will assume certain tasks currently handled by the general manager. With the appointment of André Vreugdenhil, Koppe has managed to source someone with international experience in the breeding and propagation of ornamental cultivars.
For the past 4 years, André has worked at Dümmen Orange as the General Manager of a number of entities. In this position, he contributed to the growth and development of the Roos product group. Prior to Dümmen Orange, he spent 20 years in various commerce and product management positions at Royal Van Zanten. As the son of a grower, André spent his childhood surrounded by lilies in the Westland.
André says, “To me, it’s a challenge to work with a motivated team towards offering even more services to our customers and further expanding the Koppe family business”.
Koppe is really looking forward to this new cooperation and is confident in its ability to build a great future along with André and the current team!
Koppe is a true family business. Its roots were planted at the start of the 20th century, in 1910 to be precise. Over more than 100 years, the organisation has developed from a small family enterprise into a leading breeder and supplier of reproduction stock. More specifically, an expert in the breeding and propagation of Begonias.
The Koppe range consists of indoor and outdoor flowering and foliage begonias. The company’s head office, which is also its parent plant site, is located in Ermelo on the Veluwe. For a number of years, the company has also operated an ultramodern cuttings facility in the south of Portugal, from which cuttings are shipped to the Netherlands on a weekly basis. Once in the Netherlands, the cuttings are rooted at a modern rooting facility in Aalsmeer, or are dispatched as unrooted to customers throughout Europe.
Depending on the season, between 55 and 75 workers process cuttings and young plants on a daily basis at these different facilities.
