jardiland-300x165PARIS, France: French garden centre chain Jardiland today announced a definitive agreement under which it will buy up its largest franchisee, the family business Prieux.

Jardiland is the leading garden centre chain in France with 183 points of sale. The acquisition of Prieux comes as a result of the group’s strategic plan initiated four years ago, whose goals include strengthening its network and finding new growth drivers, both with franchisees and its own locations.

Historically, Prieux has been Jardiland’s most important franchisee. The deal increases Jardiland’ s fully owned network in the East of France with 14 points of sale which will be restyled according to Jardiland’s new store concept.

This ambitious overhaul is made possible with the support of L-GAM investment fund , who  has became Jardiland ‘s backer in January 2014.

Founded in 1973, Jardiland comprises 189 garden centres, of which 183 are in France (100 branch stores plus 83 franchisees) and 6 in Spain and Portugal. The group  employs 2500 staff in its own branches (4000 together with the franchisees). Its revenue totalled  €740 million in 2015.
