people_princess_charleneMONACO:  Attending the re-opening of the Princess Grace Rose Garden in Fontveille, Monaco, princess Charlene of Monaco named her own rose.

Rosa ‘Princess Charlene’ (previously known under the name Haiku Perfumella) is a highly fragrant and delicate pink-coloured rose from French breeder Meilland. Princess Charlene was delighted by having a rose named after her.

The rose garden in Fontveille, which honours Prince Albert’s mother, Princess Grace, has been closed to the public for almost a year, so that it could be refurbished and extended. The rose was Princess Grace’s favourite flower and a statue of her can be seen amongst the many varieties of rose in the garden.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Princess was presented with a bouquet made of roses named after her, the Princess Charlene Rose.
