The Glazen Tulp (or Golden Tulip) is awarded by FloraHolland to the year’s most striking and successful market introductions.

Clematis ‘Star River’ was first introduced in October 2012 and is a new addition to the Clematis Amazing® series by Marginpar. It’s characterised by its bright blue colour and impressive large flowers. Like the other Clematis varieties in its series, it has at least three to four flowers per stem. Each year FloraHolland present the Glazen Tulp award to the most successful introductions to the market in four categories: cut flowers, houseplants, garden plants and sales concepts. The jury decide between the hundreds of new products and concepts that are introduced to FloraHolland every year.

This year Rob Verlinden, TV presenter and chairman of the jury, announced the winners at an awards ceremony in the Netherlands on January 16th. The jury report commented on the winning cut flower: “A fantastically innovative product that is feminine and fits the current trends… It is a true innovation in this area”. The jury praised Marginpar for cultivating Clematis Diversifolia Star River as a cut flower.

Marginpar BV was established in 1988 as one of the first flower import companies in the Netherlands, and with more than 25 years of experience in the cut flower industry, they pride themselves as one of the leading suppliers of exclusive summer flower varieties. The majority of their flower production is marketed and distributed through FloraHolland Flower Auctions. The flowers of Marginpar are available year-round through Dutch wholesale distributors.
