ALBENGA, Italy, June 1, 2012: Friends, family and industry peers gathered to say farewell to Martino Bolla at a funeral service which was held at the San Michele church in the historic heart of Albenga on May 28th.
Martino, aged 75, was one of the pioneers and great inventors of Italian ornamental horticulture. He enjoyed a fascinating and varied career that ranged from growing patio plants and potted herbs (featuring his own quality label) to setting up a packaging factory for the flower industry.
Life was not always easy for him, he lost his beloved son and co worker, Antonio, in August 2011, but Martino’s perseverance and dignity brought him through the tough times.
One of Martino’s latest achievements was the establishment of E.T Srl which provided technological solutions to optimise the yields of vegetable and flower growers.
