THEALE, UK, June 12, 2012: The HTA National Plant Show is delighted to welcome a fantastic line up of speakers for this year’s seminar programme. Over the course of the show, two plant-focussed seminars will run on Tuesday 26 June; the first at 10am and the second at 3pm and a further seminar will run at 10am on Wednesday 27 June.
Dan Heims, President of Terra Nova Nurseries, USA, will open the show seminar programme at 10am on Tuesday 26 June and will share his ‘garden gems’ – an inspirational and fun compilation of some of the newest, most exciting perennials, tropicals, and woody shrubs from his world-wide trips to botanical gardens, plant shows and nurseries.
Plant Retail Consultant Jim Teague will focus on the retail principles that you can apply to your plant area to increase plant sales and profitability on Tuesday afternoon. Jim believes that plant areas are not exposed to the retail rigour that they could be, and will provide guidance on how to change this in a way that makes a real business difference. Jim oversaw the buying and selling of plants for Van Hage Garden Centres and The Garden and Leisure Group and now provides consultancy support to retailers in improving the performance of plant areas.
Pat FitzGerald of FitzGerald Nurseries in Ireland is an innovator in new plants and brings a fresh way of thinking about why we need plants, what they should do for our customers and defining customer needs for the future. His seminar on Wednesday morning will explore how growers, retailers and landscape designers can work together to ensure that plants meet the new ‘living space’ requirements of today’s consumer and how we communicate this message to them.
