Having started in 1986 as a gerbera nursery, Vitro Plus specializes today in plant tissue culture of perennial plants. The research is carried out in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, while the mass production of tissue culture plantlets takes place in Vitro’s subsidiaries in Warsaw, Poland and Antalya, Turkey. The company owned by the brothers Dirk and Piet van Erven along with Gert van Eijk-Bos and has an annual output of 10 to 12 million plantlets which are purchased by plant nurseries world wide.
With its extensive experience in plant tissue culture Vitro Westland has gained a strong position in the US market with Heuchera and Echinacae being the absolute best sellers.
The news for the moment is Vitro’s new double flowered Echinacae ‘Irrisistible’ which reaches up to 40 cm in height and produces masses of terracotta coloured flowers in July and August.
